Future Method was invited to work with Archrival, a collaborative and innovative collective, to work on a site specific installation for the Sydney Festival in 2012. We worked with concrete canvas – a thick, heavy cellular fabric, impregnated with cement – flexible and malleable until wet that sets hard like concrete. The combination of the fluid and flexible fabric with the solidity and robustness of concrete made for welcoming public furniture. The pieces were installed under the original tree of the Sydney Convict Barracks to form a quiet conversation point for the duration of the festival.
